Laser meter go-pro-camera

In order to investigate changes in fish populations, the size of fish on camera images needs to be determined. This laser meter provides the attachment and parallel alignment of 2 laser flashlights below a standard go-pro camera mount. The dimensions of what is filmed or photographed can be determined, based on the distance of the laser points. Safety, durability and production in small quantities were important points of attention in the design of this product.

Industrial Design

A practical solution

An important aspect of the laser meter go-pro camera is that the product should be practical in use. The laser meter will be used underwater and must not be a burden to the user. The laser meter must also be resistant to long-term use in the sea. With these points of attention in mind, we have started to develop a practically applicable product.

"Ideal partner"

“Wortel was the ideal partner for us to get from idea to product. They designed a smart and easy-to-use solution for us and supervised the process up to production. We are very satisfied with the cooperation.”

Product Engineering

Production in small quantities

The laser meter go-pro camera will be produced in small quantities. The product has been developed for the pure functionality. No investments are required for plastic molds, as it has been possible to produce the product completely through laser cutting, sheet metal and standard components without compromising functionality.

The production method is used in such a way that very small tolerances can be achieved in assembly. The product itself ensures good alignment. The product is easy to operate, made from sustainable materials and made in a sustainable production process and ensures easy assembly and easy replacement of parts.

Designing underwater

“Developing products that are not only sustainable but also aim for a sustainable goal, is even more interesting for us as a sustainable design agency. With the design of the laser meter, we have developed a very basic product in a very short time that perfectly meets the requirements and wishes. The strength of this design is the power of simplicity.”

Prototyping and Production support

Testing underwater

The laser meter go-pro-camera has been tested for its actual application and has therefore been tested underwater. Because the design is intended for production in small quantities, the prototype is equal to the final product. Production has a very short lead time due to the very simple elaboration of the customer’s wishes.
